Good Governance Africa Francophone
Programmes Officer – Gorée, Senegal
Good Governance Africa is an independent, registered NPO that works to improve government performance in Africa through research and advocacy that promotes fact-based knowledge.
As GGA Francophone programmes officer, you will exercise overall oversight, including operational oversight, of GGA Francophone programmes arising from the organisation’s research and advocacy that advance improved governance in Africa.
We research, analyse and interpret information aligned with our focus areas across context-driven centres in Africa. GGA conducts targeted research, promotes fact-based knowledge and propagates ethical values. Core areas include: Local Governance and Grassroots Democracy, Natural Resources, National Security, Childhood Development and Youth Formation, and the Promotion of Ethical Values and Spirituality, amongst others.
Duties include:
- Planning, designing and executing research and intervention strategies pertaining to GGA Francophone programmatic themes and aligned partner cooperation
- Oversee, provide support, and manage internal and external research projects for each programme and adhoc projects
- General programme coordination
- Project management of each programme and project, including strategy, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluating, assessing and reporting
- Data management, analysis and reporting
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Liaison with partners, colleagues and participants
- Liaison with GGA Francophone publications officer and general admin assistant
- Event support, organisation of topics, research and speaker co-ordination
- Oversee all research projects, the integrity of information and outcomes
- Outcome-document research, reporting and writing
- Field and site visits, travel as and when required
Requirements:
- A graduate degree in research, quantitative and qualitative, or any related field (non-negotiable) and preferably a Ph.D.
- Demonstrable project management experience (non-negotiable)
- Demonstrable research outputs – papers, publications etc.
- A minimum of five years’ management experience (non-negotiable)
- An efficient and open style of communication
- Organisational maturity
- Ability to manage and multitask across several concurrent projects and programmes
- Data savvy and an affinity to do research
- Bilingual French-English
