Good Governance Africa Francophone
Publications Officer – Gorée, Senegal
Good Governance Africa is an independent, registered NPO that works to improve government performance in Africa through research and advocacy that promotes fact-based knowledge.
As GGA Francophone publications officer, you will exercise overall oversight, including editorial oversight, of GGA Francophone publications, including publications arising from the organisation’s research and advocacy that advance improved governance in Africa.
Duties include:
- Writing articles for various GGA francophone publications
- Procuring content for various GGA francophone publications
- Development and execution of a publishing strategy, including printing, digital beneficiation and distribution of all GGA francophone publications.
- Design of editorial policies aimed at ensuring that the content of all publications is of a high quality in terms of accuracy, validity, reliability, credibility, authority, readability, and relevance to the organisation’s mission.
- Conceptualising, researching and planning publications that lead to a better understanding of governance-related issues in the countries covered;
- Reviewing submissions and preparing them for publication.
- Design of Standard Operating Procedures
- Design and management of editorial schedules
- Design of systems to ensure high-quality publications
- Managing existing publications
- Identifying markets for publications
- Designing and implementing revenue streams from retail sales, subscriptions and advertising.
- Brand management
- The development of appropriate new publishing products and services.
- Liaison with other executives in the organisation
- Collaboration and liaison with other publishers in the wider GGA organisation.
- Managing and monitoring republishing rights.
- Designing and managing a departmental budget
- Retrospective review of publications.
Additional duties may include:
- Design
- Layout
- Making a publication print ready.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Journalism
- Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in journalism or publishing.
- Blingualism French – English
- A record of publication on African issues
- Competence in the use of publication software, print and digital.
